OSHA is Here! No Need to Fear

Ms. Gregory is a nationally recognized speaker and trainer skilled in translating regulatory and compliance information into captivating educational programming for healthcare workers. She is Certified in Dental Infection Prevention and Control® (CDIPC®), serves as a subject matter expert in dental infection prevention and control, and specializes in packaging process and policy content for successful integration into practice. In fact, she was involved in the update of the unforgettable teaching tool, “If Saliva Were Red” and was Editor-in-Chief of the online tool, “Best Practices for Infection Control in Dental Clinics During the COVID-19 Pandemic”. She is currently on the Editorial Review Board of the popular newsletter, Infection Control in Practice.
Ms. Gregory served on the Board of Directors of Association for Dental Safety (formerly known as OSAP). She has been awarded all three of the organization’s top leadership awards, including the Dr. James Crawford Lifetime Achievement Award. Karen volunteers for North Carolina Missions of Mercy in an effort to help those in need. Early in 2023, she launched her own consulting firm to “inspire frontline healthcare workers to include safety in every process”.
TDA HIPAA Update
The course will review the most recent guidance from HHS/OCR regarding the continued protection of patient data (PHI) that every dental practice must be aware of. The course will also review and provide a detailed analysis of the latest cybersecurity scams that are affecting the dental industry and endangering the protection of patient data (PHI).
Learning Objectives:
- Provide an overview regarding the requirements of a HIPPA HHS/OCR mandated risk analysis test that every dental practice must be aware of and perform.
- Provide an overview of the administrative safeguards that must be implemented in order to protect patient data (PHI).
- Provide an overview of the technology safeguards that must be implemented in order to protect patient data (PHI).
- Provide the latest HHS/OCR guidance for defending against a cybersecurity attack in order to protect patient data (PHI).
- Review the latest cybersecurity attacks that are affecting dental offices on a national basis, and how dental offices can prevent a cybersecurity attack in order to avoid substantial fines and penalties.

Stuart J. Oberman is the founder and President of Oberman Law Firm, with over 30 years of experience in healthcare law. A graduate of Urbana University and John Marshall Law School, he has served as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 company before establishing his practice. Mr. Oberman specializes in DSO formation, corporate structures, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and employment law within the healthcare sector. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and author, recipient of the Martindale-Hubbell Client Distinction Award and the Lawyers of Distinction Award, and a member of several professional affiliations, including the American Bar Association's Healthcare Section and various Georgia courts.

2024 Chemical Dependency & Prescription Writing Course Description
In this one-hour webinar we will discuss the opioid epidemic and the effects it has on our culture and society. We will examine the disease of addiction (substance use disorder) including signs and symptoms, emphasizing the impact chemical dependency may have on the practice of dentistry. We will also review the Tennessee Board of Dentistry’s Chronic Pain Guidelines, which are the clinical practice guidelines for outpatient management of pain, as well as the minimum opioid prescribing guidelines.
Learning Objectives:
- Better understand the disease of addiction, including signs and symptoms, and the impact chemical dependency may have on the practice of dentistry and our nation
- Describe reasonable standard of care for pain management before, during and after dental care.
- Identify patients who may display drug-seeking behavior and how to manage them.
- Explore methods on effectively communicating information on the proper prescribing and use of opioids and other controlled substances for post-op discomfort and pain management.
Speaker: Dr. J. William “Bill” Claytor, Jr.
Dr. William "Bill" Claytor, Jr. graduated from the University of North Carolina (Adams) School of Dentistry and completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has earned the Academy of General Dentistry’s Fellowship and Mastership, along with the AGD Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition Award. Dr. Claytor holds a certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling from Union College and served as a Consultant to the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs for 2022–2023. He was a Board Member for the ADA’s Dental Well-Being Advisory Committee (2016–2021) and participated as a panelist at the 2023 Health & Well-being Summit. In 2022, he was appointed Executive Director of North Carolina Caring Dental Professionals.
